Nicko McBrain Fort Lauderdale Concert reviews
A matinee performance
The name alone, The Phantom of the Opera, brings with it such expectations of being swept off your feet. Before the performance began, there was a piece of paper in our program announcing that one of the main characters would be performed by the understudy. We took our daughter to a matinee performance of the Phantom of the Opera at the Bob Carr Theatre in Orlando, FL. It had its good moments, and it had its, "oh yeah, that must be one of the understudies". When we opened our program, the announcer said that another four or more people would be performed by the understudies... and that about sums up the performance. It was a good experience for my daughter, who is six; but, as far as for the wife and husband who have seen Phantom a few times and can compare it to the others...it was average. If you're going to let all the "stars" have a performance off, my suggestion would be, you shouldn't charge full price for an understudy performance.
